Youth account

What is this?

A youth account is a normal account — own email, password and device — with exactly one parent supervising. There is no second account type: linking starts supervision, release account ends it. Teams and attendance stay.

Why it matters

  • Between 12 and 15 the child can use their own device while consent stays with the parent.
  • An existing child profile is handed over without starting from scratch.
  • A second parent (share access) is not lost during the handoff.

How it works

  1. Under 12: parent-managed child only, no login. Ages 12–15: youth account with supervision. Ages 16–17: own account or an optional youth account. From 18: own account; existing supervision lasts until release.
  2. Handoff: The parent creates a single-use link in the child settings. The child sets email and password. The profile becomes a youth account and the parent becomes the supervisor.
  3. The child must not accept the handoff inside an already signed-in account.
  4. Link: An existing account invites a parent (single-use, 14 days).
  5. Self-registration at 12–15 waits for a parent. Under 12, registration is blocked.
  6. The parent can see and answer appointments, join or leave a team, manage payments and media consent, share access and delete the account. From 16 they may release account.
  7. The parent cannot sign in as the child, change password or email, or read the inbox. The child cannot end supervision.
  8. The child uses the app day to day, RSVPs, sees calendar and inbox — and cannot change date of birth while supervision lasts.
  9. For attendance, the latest answer wins. The other person is notified.
  10. Only the parent can release, and only from age 16. After that, profile, teams and history stay; supervision and shared access end.
