Main club and departments

What is this?

Many clubs are a main club with sport-specific departments. In Neely the main club is a club without its own teams. A department is a regular club attached to it.

You choose the club kind when you create it. It cannot be changed later.

Why it matters

• Each department stays independent — its own teams, members and waitlist.
• The main club sees a combined member list; it does not manage those members.
• Attaching or detaching does not change teams, members or the waitlist.
• A department works on its own. Joining a main club can happen later.

How it works

1. When you create a club you pick department or main club. A department needs a department type (for example Handball, or your own type).
2. A main club has departments and a read-only member list across them. No teams, waitlist, shop or club appointments.
3. A department belongs to at most one main club. Navigation then shows Department {type} · {main club}.
4. Connecting happens only through Invite department: a link plus a one-time 6-digit code that you give to the department admins in person.
5. The code is shown once. If it is lost, revoke the invite and create a new one. Five wrong codes invalidate the link.
6. The person who accepts must be an admin of a club that is not already attached.
7. Detach is immediate and keeps all data — in department settings or on the department card in the main club. The department type stays.
8. Main-club membership is admin only.

FAQ

Can a department have departments of its own? No. A main club also cannot itself become a department.

Does detaching delete the department? No. Teams, members and waitlist stay.

Who may detach? A main-club admin can detach any department. In the department only an admin, not a youth lead.

Can the main club buy Club Pro? No. Each department has its own plan.
